Results from the UCD Open 2 2008 are in...

A record 40 competitors took part in the UCD Open Air Gun competition last weekend.

This was the first competition to be shot on UCD's brand new Electronic Targets, which proved to be quite the hit with both spectators and shooters alike. Live, shot-by-shot coverage was provided to the gathered spectators via UCD's 20 foot big screen projector.

3 matches were held over the course of 4 details, AR60, AR40 and Air Pistol. 12 Students shot on the preceding Wednesday, with the remaining 28 shooters spread over 3 details on Sunday. A total of 5 Clubs were represented, with some Comber competitors traveling from Northern Ireland to take part.

A 10 shot AR final rounded off a busy schedule, and with the scores dead even (at decimal level) at one stage of what proved to be quite an exciting final. Elizabeth O'Hagan fought off a valiant effort by Ciara Gaffney to snatch the title by just 0.5 points, with a final score of 472.2
