The new National 50m Prone Champion is Tony Cogan of DRC. On what was a very good day for shooting, some extremely strange results were recorded, Tony Cogan was one of the few who were able to handle the changing light conditions and blitzed both the qualification and the final with a great display of composed shooting. Tony scored a 587 in the qualifying round and then followed up three hours later with a 102.9 in the final, never being challenged at any stage by runner up and last years champion Richard Stapleton.
A couple of competitors ran out of time; Joe O'Donohoe had just 5 minutes and 18 seconds to shoot thirteen shots and amazingly completed the task in just three minutes 24 seconds, dropping only 1 point out of a possible 130! Unfortunately Ray Reilly was not able to perform an even more herculean feat and was left one shot short when the time ran out.

The range was in immaculate condition and the weather was worlds apart from the conditions experienced at the first attempt to run the championship back in June. Much appreciation to the Committee and members of BRC shooting club who hosted this and the cancelled event and exhibited incredible patience as well as a great deal of interest in the ongoing match.

The Final was exciting from the point of view of third place which changed hands three times with the 5th place competitor, Sean Baldwin eventually taking and holding the position after the fifth shot.

The NTSA wish to thank all those who turned up (for the second time) and especially those who helped with the target transport and logistics. Without you guys the event would have been a sorry mess indeed. Special thanks to Wes Halliday and the Committee and members of BRC Shooting Club who yet again went out of their way to host this event and of course for providing tea, coffee, biscuits and able-bodied assistance at the drop of a hat.
Class Prizes will be issued later in the year when new prizes which are in the process of being designed and ordered are available.{mosimage}
